Helfer is a native of the rural area of Donalda, Alberta, Canada, to Dennis Helfer and Elaine Helfer. [2] She was born in the town of Donalda, Alberta Canada. Her parents are Dennis and Elaine Helfer. She graduated from Stettler's William E. Hay Composite High School. The three sisters she lives with lived on the family's farm of wheat. At the age of 17, Helfer's modeling agency agent spotted her while in line waiting in a theatre.
